Chi-t’an Village was liberated by the Eighth Route Army in March of 1945.

Those who had suffered under Feng Shou-heng stood up against him. And Feng Ying-ts’e stood up too! Feng Ch’ou-hai returned to Chi-t’an Village. Under the leadership of the Communist Party and the Eighth Route Army, all of the villagers engaged in revolution and struggle. They struggled down Feng Shou-heng and Kuo Chin-sung. The evil Feng Shou-heng was finally suppressed by the People’s Government. The agricultural cooperative in Chi-t’an Village removed the bodies of Wu-ch’ou and Tun-chieh from the pit and buried them in graves. The villagers angrily stamped their feet while looking at the pit in which Wu-ch’ou and his wife had been buried alive. They wished that they could bury all landlords, scoundrels, and traitors alive in that pit.

“One man falls down, but millions of people stand up.” At the ceremony of the burial of Wu-ch’ou and his wife, Feng Ch’ou-hai, Feng Ying-ts’e, Aunt Wei, and all the poor people in Chi-t’an Village who had suffered made speeches. They shouted that they would always follow the Communist Party and always follow Chairman Mao!

Wu-ch’ou and his wife fell down, outnumbered yet heroic in their struggle, but their good friend Feng Ch’ou-hai and their daughter Feng Ying-ts’e have stood up. Under the leadership of the Party, they have found out the correct way to carry out the struggle. Since the liberation, they have lived a happy life which was never dreamed of by Wu-ch’ou and his wife, but they have not forgotten the evildoings of the class enemies.
